Second annual edition

An 11-a-side soccer tournament will be held between June 21 and 23 in the province of Huelva, bringing together more than 80 teams from Spain, France, England and Portugal, among others. This is the second edition of this tournament, in 2024, now aimed at the youngest of the quarries of the main clubs in Europe: infant, cadet and youth categories.

The press room of the Huelva City Hall was the place chosen for this presentation, with the presence of representatives of the host municipalities: Huelva, Moguer, Palos de la Frontera, Cartaya, Lepe and Villablanca, together with the Huelva Provincial Council.

The opening ceremony will take place on Friday, June 21 at 8:30 p.m. at the Ibero-American Athletics Stadium 'Emilio Martin'. Then, on 22 and 23 will be the competition in the main stadiums of the host municipalities. In addition to this appointment with sport, there is an important appointment with tourism in the province: "more than 10,000 visitors are expected", as indicated by the director of the Gañafote, Joaquín Rasco.

For her part, the mayor of Huelva, Pilar Miranda, thanked the organization for the presence in the capital of a new edition of the Gañafote, in a unique time of the year "to know our beaches, our gastronomy or our culture". For the mayor, the success of the Gañafote is "in the union of public and private", to put Huelva "on the international map through this sporting event".

For his part,the councilman of Sports of Palos de la Frontera and provincial deputy of Sports, Juan Daniel Romero, has indicated that this year in his municipality, the Gañafote "is going to release new field", knowing the importance of this event, where Palos participates since its first edition. "For the province is a benchmark tournament in sports," he said.

Also participating were the mayor of Villablanca, Juan Manuel Zamora; the councilman of Cartaya, Juan Manuel Camacho; the councilman of Moguer, Juan Manuel Cerpa; and the councilman of Lepe, Aurelio Madrigal. All have agreed to highlight the tourist value of the Gañafote and have invited those attending the tournament to know the province and enjoy Huelva in summer.

This tournament is supported by the Huelva City Council, Lepe, Cartaya, Villablanca, Palos and Moguer, as well as the Huelva Provincial Council and the Andalusian Regional Government.

SECOND ANNUAL EDITION

This Gañafote Junior is the second annual edition of this Discovery Tournament. The first edition, the Kids, held in March in the province of Huelva, has brought an economic benefit that has exceeded 3.4 million euros; in global terms, adding the overnight stays, the average consumption of the participants, as well as family members. Bringing together more than 220 teams from four continents and more than a dozen countries around the world, from the Arab Emirates to Argentina, through Europe and Africa.

It was an event that promotes and sells the Huelva brand as a tourist destination within and beyond our borders, with nearly 30,000 visitors in just 4 days.
