The Gañafote Cup Junior, the 11-a-side soccer tournament in Huelva, has announced its winners: FC Famalicao, from Portugal’s first division in the 2010 Infantil category; CD Leganés, a club recently promoted to Spain’s first division, in the 2008 Cadet division; UD Tomares in the 2011 Infantil division; CDC Nuevo Molino in the 2009 Cadet division; and CD Los Rosales in the 2007 Juveniles division, after defeating Recreativo de Huelva in the final.
Cartaya and Palos de la Frontera hosted the final rounds and the Matches thrilling Matches of a spectacular tournament, which began on Friday at the Estadio Iberoamericano and concluded this Sunday at around 10:30 p.m. It was a hot weekend weather-wise and an exciting one for soccer, marking the debut of the Gañafote Junior 11-a-side Soccer Tournament.

As for visitors, more than 10,000 people have come to Huelva for this year’s event; with more than 80 participating clubs, about 50 of which are from Spain, France, or Portugal. Gañafote’s general manager, Joaquín Rasco, concluded by saying that “it’s a celebration of soccer” and noted that this year, between Gañafote Kids and Junior, more than 300 teams have passed through Huelva as part of the Discovery Tournament, which is becoming increasingly established on the international stage.
This tournament is supported by the city councils of Huelva, Lepe, Cartaya, Villablanca, Palos, and Moguer, as well as the Huelva Provincial Council and the Regional Government of Andalusia.
SECOND ANNUAL EDITION
This Gañafote Junior is the second annual edition of this Discovery tournament. The first edition, the Kids tournament, held in March in the province of Huelva, generated economic benefits exceeding 3.4 million euros—in total, including overnight stays and the average spending of participants and their families. The event brought together more than 220 teams from four continents and more than a dozen countries around the world, ranging from the United Arab Emirates to Argentina, including Europe and Africa.
This event promoted and marketed the Huelva brand as a tourist destination both within and outside our borders, attracting nearly 30,000 visitors in just 4 days.
