Recreativo de Huelva and UD Santa Marta advance to the final round of the Gañafote Cup after winning their preliminary-round matches in Cortegana (Huelva) and Cabrerizos (Salamanca)
The Gañafote Cup has held two preliminary rounds in Spain, in Cortegana (Huelva) and Cabrerizos (Salamanca); Real Club Recreativo de Huelva won in Huelva, and UD Santa Marta won in the municipality of Salamanca. These two teams have already secured direct advancement to the Gañafote Cup Final Phase, which will be held in the province of Huelva in April 2025.
Joining them is the Carlos Sarmiento Lora Soccer School from Colombina, winner of the qualifying round recently qualifying round in South America. They will join the winners of the preliminary rounds yet to be played in Dubai, Australia, Japan, Argentina, and Poland, among other locations.
They all share the same goal: to compete in the most international youth tournament in their history, where more than 300 teams have already been confirmed, including the world’s best clubs.
Vicente del Bosque, former national team coach and World Cup champion with the Spanish national team, attended the qualifying round Cabrerizos as a guest. He encouraged all the young players to “fulfill their dream” of becoming professional soccer players, while upholding the values and respect of the soccer world.
Similarly, Del Bosque learned firsthand about the Gañafote Cup project from its general manager, Joaquín Rasco, who was in Salamanca for the tournament’s lead-up events, and took the opportunity to “invite all teams from around the world” to participate in this major championship.
Joaquín Rasco, the general manager of Gañafote, noted that all the preliminary phases have been a success, both in terms of participation and the interest shown by international teams in coming to Huelva to compete in April. “There’s a before and after for Gañafote; we’re a world-class tournament,” he said.
