A GREAT PROJECT BEYOND BASKETBALL

The Inclusive Basketball Classroom: A Project that Boosts Social Inclusion through Sports

The practice of sports, physical exercise, mobility, staying active, interaction or contact with other people and coexistence are elements that multiply the well-being and, above all, the social integration of children who have some type of disability.

For this reason, the Enrique Benítez CBD has created its Inclusive Basketball Classroom, a project of corporate social responsibility and involvement with the environment where we develop our activity.

The objective of this classroom is to ensure that people with intellectual or physical disabilities have a place to practice sports, learn how to play basketball and train with other young athletes and young people from our youth academy.

Sport as an engine of inclusion

Sports have always been a key element for social integration. Through the practice of sports, social, cultural and physical barriers are broken, allowing people from different realities to coexist and learn from each other. In this sense, the Inclusive Basketball Classroom becomes a space that, in addition to working on sports skills, promotes essential values such as solidarity, companionship and equal opportunities.

In basketball, a sport that requires teamwork, communication and collective effort, participants in this inclusive classroom not only develop technical game skills, but also personal competencies that improve their self-esteem and encourage their active participation in society. For many, it is a window into the normalization of diversity, where inclusion is not a goal, but a tangible reality.

Huelva Comercio LRi21-Viridis and CDB Enrique Benítez: Boosting Inclusion

The commitment of sports clubs to society is crucial to generate change. In this case, Huelva Comercio LRi21-Viridis and CDB Enrique Benítez have demonstrated great social responsibility by launching the Aula Inclusiva de Baloncesto (Inclusive Basketball Classroom). This project promotes the integration of people with different abilities in an environment where sport is used not only for competition, but also for the integral development of the participants. It sets a precedent on how sports entities can be catalysts for inclusive initiatives. These types of programs, besides being necessary, contribute to the visibility of diversity and the promotion of a fairer and more equitable society.

Gañafote's support: One more step towards success

One of the highlights of the Aula Inclusiva de Baloncesto is the union with Gañafote Cup, a soccer tournament that has become one of the most anticipated sporting events in Huelva. The synergy between inclusive basketball and the soccer tournament not only enriches the project, but also gives it greater visibility and projection at local, national and international level.

Gañafote' s endorsement sends a strong message: sport, regardless of the discipline, must be accessible to all. Inclusion is not just a matter of providing opportunities, but of building environments where everyone can develop on equal terms. This type of support is essential for initiatives such as the Inclusive Basketball Classroom to continue to grow and serve as an example for other sports projects.

An impact that transcends the court

The Inclusive Basketball Classroom (AIB) is integrated into the Basketball School of the Enrique Benitez CBD, the youth and grassroots sports program that the club has in place. Providing children with the ability to regularly develop an activity that is complementary to their daily lives. In addition, it ensures that they can regularly perform physical exercise adapted to their conditions. Thanks to the activities of the AIB they can interact with each other and interact with the other athletes of the Basketball School, promoting mutual understanding.

This project not only seeks to develop athletes, but also to create spaces for equality, respect and personal growth. As sport continues to evolve, it is essential that initiatives like this one multiply, contributing to the construction of a more inclusive and empathetic society where everyone, regardless of their abilities, has a place on and off the field.

The future of sport is inclusive, and the Inclusive Basketball Classroom is the best example of this.
