Bonares 1 - Ganafote Cup

Bonares is an agricultural municipality surrounded by the beautiful banks of the Tinto River and places such as the popular “Corchito”, 2 km from the town. A Roman necropolis, as well as other archaeological remains found in its area, tell us about the remote origins of this town that belonged, after the Christian reconquest, to the County of Niebla.

As regards crafts, work such as saddlery and esparto weaving, as well as the manufacture of polychrome ceramics and embroidery, is still carried out in Bonares. Fruity musts, mistelas and Easter cakes are the most characteristic products of Bonares' gastronomy.

Among its festivals, we highlight the Cruces de Mayo, celebrated in May, and the Patron Saint Festivities in honor of Santa María Salomé, celebrated in October.

WHAT TO SEE IN BONARES

Among its monuments, we highlight the Parish Church, from the 17th century, which houses a carving of the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception and a sculpture of San Francisco de Borja, both of great historical and artistic value. Also worth mentioning is the Hermitage of San Sebastián, completed in 1695.
